CDBG City of Goleta

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) annually awards grants to entitlement community grantees through the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). These funds are intended to help communities accomplish HUD's overall goals by carrying out a wide range of community development activities directed toward revitalizing neighborhoods, economic development, and providing improved community facilities and services. The program is principally targeted toward assisting low- and moderate-income persons.

The City of Goleta became an entitlement grantee in 2004. As a requirement of the CDBG program, the City prepared a 2004-2009 Consolidated Plan to set forth the City's intent to pursue HUD's overall goals. In 2009, the City completed an update to this Plan and produced a 2009-2014 Consolidated Plan. Recently the City Council adopted the new five-year Consolidated Plan covering the period from 2014-2019.
