Kerrie Kilpatrick-Weinberg
Kerrie was born and raised in England. She attended Central School in London and was trained as a theater set-designer. After graduating she held a number of positions including stage set designer for Riverside Studios, London, Lyric Theatre, London, Cottesloe Theater, London. And has collaborated with the designers Ralph Koltai (Royal Shakespeare Company), and Pamela Howard (National Theater, London).
Since her arrival in the United States she has been busy working in the community and as a mother of two sons Ben and Sam. She is committed to education and is the founder of Art Walk For Kids/Adults. She has also designed the sets for the Lobero Theatre and The Marjorie Luke Theater, Santa Barbara. Her other volunteer work is with Sarah House where she is on the board of directors and VP of special events, chairing the annual Light Up The Night event.
Kerrie’s passion is to work with at-risk and special needs youth and adults. She accomplishes this through Art Walk for Kids/Adults. She is the founder of this non profit organization, its mission is “to set a course of positive self expression and the doors of opportunity will open” Another way she has helped is by creating a 12 week theatre set project for the youth who are incarcerated at Los Prietos Boy Camp, Santa Barbara County. It was with great joy that she worked with gang members who found their voice through art.
Recently she has begun to paint again, inspired by the light and life she has witnessed form her many travels abroad. Her work is greatly influenced by rhythms of shapes, energy and colors that she sees in her every day environment. Whether it is a visit to the ocean or a memory of a recent journey she enjoys working is her studio with natural light and her family around her.
If you would like to know more about her work in the community please visit the Art Walk For Kids web site at www.artwalkforkids.org.
